The Ribbon is an architectural metaphor of connection, focus on the linkage between the past and the current, readdress the cultural significance of the neglected heritage items at the iconic Flinders Station such as the Banana Alley and the Milk Dock by including them into the mediatheque design.

While the mediatheque questions the overdevelopment of our living environment. The idea of reciprocity is realised by utilising the vacant space above the Flinders Station train tracks that has been overlooked to offer as much urban communal space as possible to the Melbourne urban context in return.
