Digital Fabrication

Semester 1, 2014

Location : Launceston, Tasmania
Function : Installation
Scale      : 1:1

Team      : Nathaniel Steward / Scott Van Tuil / Alannah Crang / Kyra Swee/ Fishy Tan

In a team of 5 each group has to produce10 modular plaster “bricks” to form a fabricated wall which will be installed at the architecture school foyer. The main software we used were Rhinoceros and Visual Mill (CNC router). The modelling process was to investigate the form and model the brick design in Rhino and later on digitally fabricated a multipart mould to physically cast the bricks from plaster. In essence it was an object design and fabrication process where the emphasis is on the process of
design and its relation to making.
